05 June 2026

We are pleased to announce the appointment of four experienced senior lawyers across our projects and real estate, litigation and corporate M&A practices: Mark Gillard, Alice Kenny, Fred Kelly and Oliver Feslier Holmes.

“Our senior appointments strengthen our capability in New Zealand and reinforce our commitment to delivering high-quality, exceptional service to our clients. We are excited to have them with us,” said Bell Gully Chair Torrin Crowther.

Mark Gillard – Special Counsel
Mark is a highly experienced construction and infrastructure lawyer with over 20 years’ experience advising on major projects across Australia and New Zealand. He has played a key role in the procurement and delivery of complex public transport projects, including Sydney Metro Northwest and Sydney Light Rail. Recently, he has focused on renewable energy and water infrastructure developments in New Zealand. Mark provides strategic advice across contract negotiation, project delivery and dispute resolution, helping clients resolve issues early and achieve successful project outcomes.

Alice Kenny – Senior Associate
Alice joins as a senior associate with extensive litigation experience across both civil and public law matters. She brings strong international knowledge from the UK, where she advised on complex tax, insolvency and public law issues, appearing before the High Court and UK tax tribunals and contributing to EU Exit-related work. In New Zealand, she has built strong regulatory expertise, frequently liaising with regulators and contributing to public consultations.

Fred Kelly – Senior Associate
Fred also joins as a senior associate with extensive experience in corporate crime and regulatory matters. He advises corporate and individual clients on government, regulatory and internal investigations, as well as related enforcement action. While in London, Fred worked on some of the most high-profile criminal prosecutions brought by the UK Serious Fraud Office in recent years. He has also advised clients on a wide range of compliance and contentious matters, spanning issues including bribery and corruption, fraud, money laundering, and financial sanctions and has gained valuable in-house knowledge during a secondment with the financial crime legal team of a major international bank.

Oliver Feslier Holmes – Senior Associate
Oliver also joins as a senior associate, specialising in corporate law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital raisings and joint ventures. He has comprehensive experience advising major corporates, funds and financial institutions on significant cross-border transactions, particularly in the technology and infrastructure sectors. Oliver spent over seven years in the private equity team at Baker McKenzie in London, where he worked on complex, high-value transactions for leading global clients.

Bell Gully is delighted to welcome senior lawyers of this calibre. Their depth of local and international experience strengthens our work across New Zealand and enhances our core practice areas.
