Banking and finance

Known for its commercial approach, our Banking and Finance team is one of the largest and most experienced in the market, and is consistently at the forefront of the sector.

We provide a comprehensive range of services to leading banks, financial institutions, investment banks, and corporate and sovereign entities. All of our partners have practised as financial services lawyers in either London or New York.

Our team helps structure, negotiate and complete transactions, advising on project financing, capital and credit market issues, derivatives, structured finance, acquisition finance, securitisation and other asset-backed financing, cross-border leasing, project financing, investment management and insolvency, as well as having expertise in funds management, superannuation and employee benefit schemes.

Our recognised experts dominate in specialist areas such as anti-money laundering, securitisations and partnerships (public private partnerships). This work continues to be a particular strength of our team. Our team also includes New Zealand's only specialist derivatives practice, which is headed by David Craig who is New Zealand counsel to the International Swaps and Derivatives Association.
