Inclusion and diversity

Our people are intrinsically linked to our continuing success. We value diversity and recognise it as an advantage within our firm.

Our people are intrinsically linked to our continuing success. We value diversity and we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. Our dedication to maintaining a discrimination-free workplace is embedded in our policies and more importantly, in our values and daily interactions. This commitment is overseen by our Diversity and Inclusion Committee, with governance by our Board.

BelonG at Bell Gully unites all our diversity and inclusion initiatives, emphasising our commitment to fostering and encouraging talent, regardless of ethnic background, physical ability, gender, sexuality, religion or age.

We provide ongoing education and awareness-raising programmes for our people, including through the support of external expert organisations Te Uru Tāngata Centre for Workplace Inclusion, Rainbow Tick and as signatory of the New Zealand Law Society’s Gender Equality Charter.

Pay equity

Our commitment to diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity includes a focus on gender pay equity. We regularly monitor our gender pay gap and report on it as part of our commitment to transparency and accountability.

A gender pay gap is different from equal pay. Equal pay means men and women are paid the same for doing the same work. A gender pay gap measures the difference in earnings across an organisation and can be influenced by factors including workforce composition, representation at different levels and career progression patterns. We have monitored our gender pay gap for a number of years and the insights gained have helped inform our strategy, policy and initiatives.

As at 30 June 2026, our firm-wide median gender pay gap was 16.9% in favour of men, calculated using the Statistics New Zealand methodology and excluding partners. As a professional services firm, our gender pay gap can fluctuate from year to year due to factors such as recruitment, regular career progression and normal workforce movements. We therefore focus on long-term drivers of equity, including representation, progression and leadership opportunities across the firm.

We support our commitment to equal opportunity and diversity through recruitment, development and promotion practices, regular analysis of our workforce data, and Board oversight of diversity and inclusion outcomes.
