Richard is a regulatory specialist with experience across a wide range of practice areas, including financial services, telecommunications, privacy and banking.
He has a particular focus on consumer law, having acted for numerous clients on issues under the Fair Trading Act and the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act, and also specialises in the law of online contracts and Unfair Contract Terms. Richard has represented clients in response to investigations by various regulators, including the Commerce Commission, the FMA and the SFO. He also regularly assists clients with law reform activities including submissions on key legislative changes. He provides strategic and compliance advice to a variety of large consumer-facing organisations, and regularly assists on issues relating to product development, marketing, and digital innovation.
