Nicola is a senior associate in our projects and real estate team. She recently returned to Bell Gully following a period working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Legal Division.

Work highlights

WAP2 leasing project
Advised Precinct Properties on the nationally significant “WAP2 Government” leasing project, a $500M+ project reported to be the largest single office leasing transaction in New Zealand’s history and culminating in the development and leasing to the Government of approx. 72,000m² of premises across Precinct’s Government Property portfolio, including Defence House, MPI House, 1 – 3 The Terrace, Mayfair House and Pastoral House.

Ministry for Primary Industries lease
Advised the Ministry for Primary Industries on the lease of its new PC3 Biocontainment Facility in Wallaceville, including biosecurity aspects.

Wellington City Council
Advising the Wellington City Council on a range of property and commercial matters, including in relation to the Shelly Bay development.

Tauranga City Council
Advising Tauranga City Council on its programme to develop a Civic Administration Building, open civic spaces and a CBD Hotel and Conference Centre, including leasing aspects.

Horizons Regional Council development agreement
Advised Horizons Regional Council on the development agreement with the Inland Revenue Department for a new build office building in Palmerston North.

Commercial office portfolio
Advised Kiwi Property on its Wellington commercial office portfolio, including the Majestic Centre and 44 and 56 The Terrace.

ANZ portfolio
Advising ANZ on its property finance matters and all leasing requirements for its retail and commercial office portfolios throughout New Zealand.

The Salvation Army New Zealand Trust
Advising The Salvation Army New Zealand Trust on its property portfolio across New Zealand, including leasing of its family store premises, sale and purchase of its housing stock for its officers, sale and purchase of its commercial premises and all other general property related advice.

The Royal New Zealand Plunket Trust
Advising the Royal New Zealand Plunket Trust on its New Zealand property interests, including the transfer of its property stock in accordance with the relevant governing rules and in respect of property aspects related to its transfer to a charitable trust structure.

Free Trade Agreements
Acted as New Zealand’s lead legal counsel for the China – New Zealand Free Trade Agreement Upgrade, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and the United Kingdom – New Zealand Free Trade Agreement whilst at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
