We are pleased to announce the promotions of Ash Hebden, Sarah Brougham, Jae Kim and Meggan Staines to Senior Associate.

Ash Hebden – Corporate

Ash is an experienced corporate transactions lawyer specialising in private and public mergers and acquisitions. Ash’s expertise and experience cover a wide range of areas, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, and company and securities law, with a particular interest in the technology and digital infrastructure sectors.

Sarah Brougham – Corporate

Sarah specialises in corporate and commercial law, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, corporate governance and commercial contracting. Sarah has experience advising corporates and listed issuers on a range of commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings and joint ventures.  She is an experienced commercial lawyer with expertise in intellectual property and regulatory matters.

Jae Kim – Litigation

Jae is a commercial litigator with experience across a broad range of matters, including complex contractual disputes, negligence claims, regulatory investigations, and protecting intellectual property and trade secrets. Jae joined Bell Gully from the independent bar, where he acted and advised on cases at all levels of the senior courts, including appearing in the Supreme Court of New Zealand. 

He was an employed barrister at Britomart Chambers, a junior barrister at Shortland Chambers, and a judges’ clerk at the High Court of New Zealand. Jae completed an LLM by thesis at the University of Auckland focusing on privacy law.  He has been a law tutor at the University of Auckland since 2017, primarily teaching tort law.

Meggan Staines – Litigation

Meggan is an experienced litigator and advocate with a broad background in civil dispute resolution. Meggan has acted for clients and advised on a wide range of contentious matters, including shareholder and director disputes, compulsory land acquisition compensation claims, regulatory investigations and prosecutions, insurance disputes, professional disciplinary proceedings, property disputes and insolvencies. She has appeared before various Courts and Tribunals across New Zealand, including the Court of Appeal.
