Bell Gully has become the first large New Zealand law firm to sign an agreement to roll out specialist legal Generative AI platform Harvey to our lawyers firm-wide.
We will deploy Harvey to support our teams across our offices. The platform facilitates collaboration on large-scale projects with secure document storage, assists legal research by drawing on public and proprietary databases of legal, tax, and business knowledge and offers AI-assisted features to support our lawyers’ work on complex legal tasks.
“Bell Gully is proud to be the first large law firm in New Zealand to launch Harvey, which will be made available to our team of over 200 lawyers,” said Bell Gully managing partner Andrew Petersen. “By embracing GenAI in our daily practice, we're equipping our people with cutting-edge tools to continue delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.”
Responsible, appropriate and secure use of the technology is a key focus for us.
Harvey executive John Haddock, Chief Business Officer, said the agreement was a welcome expansion into New Zealand for Harvey, which has over 500 clients across 54 countries, including some of the world’s leading law firms. “It has been positive to work with a New Zealand firm that shares our commitment to client-focussed results and is aiming to deliver a clear difference to clients by harnessing the potential of this technology,” Haddock said.
The initiative aligns with Bell Gully’s strategic goal of investing in our people and in the digital capabilities that can together deliver exceptional service. Petersen said Bell Gully is committed to maintaining the highest standards around confidentiality, ethics and the quality of its advice while integrating GenAI into the way the firm operates.
