Expertise

Meika is a specialist construction, major projects and infrastructure, and energy lawyer. She advises a range of clients including government entities and local councils, power and renewable energy companies, developers, contractors and publicly listed companies.

Meika has expertise across an extensive range of construction project contracts, including NZS and FIDIC standard form construction contracts, EPC contracts, supply agreements, operation and maintenance agreements, consultancy agreements, and other project agreements and documentation for residential and commercial developments.

She also has experience advising on and assisting with project contracts in relation to project financing and renewables, specifically solar farms. Prior to joining Bell Gully in 2024, Meika was a senior associate at another large law firm in Auckland.

Auckland International Airport

Working closely with Auckland International Airport on its Terminal Integration Project (worth circa NZ$4bn), including assisting with drafting various construction, operation and maintenance contracts and other ancillary project contracts.

Development of solar farms

Advising lenders in relation to the development of solar farms and subsequently advising a major developer in relation to its ongoing proposed solar farm development program, including advising on and assisting with drafting key project documents.

Due diligence

Carrying out an extensive due diligence in relation to a solar farm developer's capital raising and led a separate lender DD on certain aspects of the proposed development.

Hutt City Council

Helping Hutt City Council with drafting 'capex' and 'opex' contract and tender documentation in relation to its landfill services procurement.

Health New Zealand

Assisting the Health New Zealand on various health facility construction projects, including assisting with drafting for construction contracts and ancillary project documentation.
