Amon is well-known for his sound, commercially-focused advice. He is highly regarded by the clients with whom he works alongside to produce successful outcomes, often under challenging circumstances.

Amon has a reputation for being responsive and providing forthright, knowledgeable and experienced advice. His practice is focused on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and restructuring and insolvency. He advises both listed and unlisted companies on public offers, private placements, employee share plans, mergers and acquisitions, stock exchange compliance and company and securities law. Amon is also Bell Gully's Other Office Chair.

He advised the Treasury on the Meridian Energy IPO, Contact Energy on its recent retail bond issue and David Jones on its entry into New Zealand through the acquisition of the Kirkcaldie & Stains premises.

Amon has a strong corporate advisory practice, acting as principal corporate counsel to NZX-listed companies Stride Property (formerly DNZ Property) and Opus International Consultants. Amon advised the board of directors of Horizon Energy Distribution on its recent takeover responses.

He is also an insolvency practitioner acting for receivers, liquidators and voluntary administrators as well as advising boards of directors on restructuring issues.

His career includes working with Cravath, Swaine & Moore in London and New York, where he was a securities and leveraged finance lawyer.

The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2023 recommends Amon in corporate and M&A and investment funds. In previous editions clients have said “Amon Nunns is outstanding as a lawyer and valued commercial advisor. Acting for Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, Hawke’s Bay Regional Investment Company Limited, Port of Napier Limited and Napier Port Holdings Limited in connection with the NZ$234 million initial public offering and NZX Main Board listing of Napier Port Holdings Limited.

Stride Property
Advised Stride Property Group on the establishment of a new industrial property investment management fund called Industre and the subsequent acquisition of various properties by Industre, on its capital raising and share purchase plan to part fund the acquisition of Antipodean Properties supermarket portfolio, and on its initial public offering and listing on the NZX.

Contact Energy NZ$400 million equity raise
Acting for Contact Energy on its NZ$400 million placement and retail offer to fund the proposed Tauhara geothermal power station.

Ryman Healthcare NZ$902 million entitlement offer
Advised Ryman Healthcare on its NZ$902 million accelerated entitlement offer with retail entitlements trading on NZX. This transaction was the first offer by a NZX listed issuer using the PAITREO offer structure.

Synlait Milk NZ$180 million bond offer
Advised Synlait Milk on its debut offer of NZ$180 million of five-year unsecured subordinated fixed rate bonds to New Zealand institutional and retail investors.

Investore Property NZ$125 million bond offer
Advised Investore Property on its debut NZ$125 million offer of seven-year senior secured fixed rate unrated bonds and advised Investore on two subsequent issuances under the “same class” exemption in the FMCA.
