Adam specialises in complex commercial litigation, regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings, and technology disputes. He also has significant practising experience in insolvency, insurance, corporate advisory, construction and workplace health and safety.

Adam is a litigator with experience in both Australia and New Zealand. Prior to joining Bell Gully, Adam spent over seven years working at leading commercial firms in Melbourne, where he was a senior associate.

Adam has built extensive international experience in managing contentious matters. He frequently assists clients across a range of industries with regulatory compliance and risk management advice, internal and external investigations, and commercial litigation. Adam has a particular interest in technology-related disputes, and their increasing intersection with his regulatory practice.

Adam’s international experience uniquely positions him to effectively assist individual and corporate clients to navigate the interplay between the Australian and New Zealand legal and regulatory landscapes in cross-border matters.

He is highly skilled in leveraging legal technology, including data analytics, to enhance the value and efficiency of his legal services to clients.

Adam holds a Juris Doctor from Melbourne Law School.

Prior to joining Bell Gully in 2024:

Regulatory investigations and enforcement
Advised a major Australian financial services licensee on an ASIC enforcement investigation relating to alleged breaches of AFSL general obligations, resulting in no further action by ASIC.

Advised several major Australian general retail insurers on numerous industry-wide and client-specific ASIC investigations relating to alleged misleading and deceptive conduct in pricing promises made to customers.

Technology disputes
Acted for a Japanese multinational IT company in respect of several proceedings against Federal and State Governments for breach of multi-million-dollar technology project contracts.

Defended an Australian individual against claims of unjust enrichment of US$3.6 million by a US institutional cryptocurrency exchange, resulting in no further legal action.

Commercial claims following corporate group administrations and liquidations
Acted for company directors and related entities in relation to several insolvency and commercial litigation disputes arising out of the collapse of a multi-billion-dollar commercial property development group of several hundred corporate entities, including alleged personal guarantee claims in excess of AU$200 million and shareholder oppression proceedings.

High Court, Federal Court and State Court proceedings as to fraud and bankruptcy
Acting for the trustees in bankruptcy of a major Australian businessman in relation to the administration of his deceased bankrupt estate, including claims of fraud, across Victorian and Federal jurisdictions including the High Court of Australia.

AU$9 million breach of contract claim against Australian superannuation trustee
Defended an Australian superannuation trustee in relation to Supreme Court proceedings issued against it for alleged breach of a sub-promoter agreement.

International security for payment adjudication
Acted for a South Korean construction company against a German manufacturer arising out of services provided for a significant Australian wind farm project, resulting in a successful US$19 million security for payment claim.
