​Tim is a litigation partner specialising in employment and workplace safety. He provides expert advice on all aspects of employment law including disciplinary and personal grievance hearings, restraints of trade and the protection of goodwill and confidential information, restructuring and redundancy proposals, exit packages, employment law implications arising on the sale or transfer of all or part of a business, all aspects of relationships between employers and unions, and Privacy Act and Human Rights Act issues.​​

An experienced health and safety lawyer, Tim advises clients on all aspects of work health and safety laws, responding to safety incidents, managing internal and WorkSafe investigations, and dealing with prosecutions.

Employment

Employment disputes
Acted for employers in a wide range of employment disputes in the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court. Recent experience includes successfully defending claims for unjustified dismissal in the Authority, and alleged negligence in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court arising out of an employment relationship (FMV v TZB).

Privacy and data protection advice
Advising on a full range of privacy matters (including responding to information requests and marketing activities), database rights and protection, international privacy questionnaires and international data protection policies.

Holidays Act compliance
Advised employers in the public and private sector on a wide range of Holidays Act compliance issues, including identifying non-compliance, remediating employees, and negotiating enforceable undertakings with the Labour Inspectorate.
