​​​​​Rupert advises a range of clients including listed and large unlisted companies, start-ups and public sector entities. He has significant knowledge across all aspects of commercial law, with a wide-ranging background that includes tax, banking and finance, financial markets, and litigation matters.

Work highlights include advising Contact Energy on its acquisition of 49% of Simply Energy (with an option to acquire the remainder), advising Ecogas on its contract with Auckland Council to process kerbside collected food scraps and advising Lewis Tucker in its establishment of the Drylandcarbon limited partnership.

Rupert joined Bell Gully in 2019 after several years as a senior associate in another major New Zealand law firm.

 Advising DroneDeploy, a California based drone software company, in its acquisition of Rocos Global, a New Zealand based robotics software company.

COVID-19 vaccinations
Advising the New Zealand Government Vaccine Strategy Task Force on negotiations with the global COVAX facility and advance purchase agreements to secure a portfolio of COVID vaccines to cover a spectrum of needs for New Zealand’s population, also extending to cover Niue, Tokelau and the Cook Islands.
