Jared is a senior associate in Bell Gully's corporate team – having returned to the firm following several international appointments in the United Kingdom. He advises information, communications and technology sector clients on major projects and corporate transactions. He also advises infrastructure sector clients on strategic ventures. Jared has particular expertise advising clients on major procurements, mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, the commercialisation of intellectual property, software licensing, SaaS arrangement, telecommunications regulatory and consumer law issues, hardware/systems procurement and syndicated procurement models. Jared is also interested in, and advises Bell Gully clients on, emerging technologies – including the blockchain, cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens and Web3 projects.
Jared is an internationally experienced commercial lawyer, specialising in advising ICT infrastructure and public sector clients on strategic and high value projects and on corporate transactions.
Jared returned to Bell Gully in early 2021, following stints at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Taylor Wessing in London (with a secondment to Barclays UK). During his time at Taylor Wessing, Jared advised on a number of significant transactions across commercial contracting, ICT procurement and corporate acquisitions.
During his previous time at Bell Gully, Jared advised a number of the firm's key clients including Crown Fibre Holdings (now Crown Infrastructure Partners), Vodafone, the Department of Internal Affairs and Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency.

Next Generation Critical Communications and Crown Infrastructure Parnters on $1.4 billion digital infrastructure procurement of The Public Safety Network - Te Kupenga Marutau
Acted for Next Generation Critical Communications (NGCC) (a division of New Zealand Police) and Crown Infrastructure Partners Limited (CIP) on the procurement of a new public safety communications network for New Zealand's emergency services agencies. The Public Safety Network - Te Kupenga Marutau will deliver a secure nationwide digital land mobile radio network and multi-network priority cellular services and roaming capability.
Sky Mobile MVNO
Advised Sky on its a long-term strategic deal with Telefónica UK which saw Telefónica UK continue to provide the network for Sky's MVNO, Sky Mobile.
F1 strategic engineering partnership
Advised a prominent British sports car manufacturer on its strategic partnership with a major F1 racing team and constructor that allowed the companies to share research and development into advanced propulsion technologies.
Investment management firm's fintech outsourcing
Advised one of Britain's largest investment management and financial planning firms on the GBP 40m upgrade and outsourcing of its core back-office processes, including its custody and settlements system.
Home Office Identity Verification Procurement Project
Advised a major international identification verification digital services provider on its multi-year multi-million GBP contract with a UK government department for the provision of a smartphone based digital enrolment capability to support the EU Exit Settlement Scheme.
Advised Barclays UK on its commercial technology contracting arrangements and outsourcing projects, supporting integral technology procurement and strategic partnership projects during COVID-19 disruption.
Auckland Prison Redevelopment PPP project
Advised the Department of Corrections on the Auckland Prison Redevelopment PPP project.
Transport smartcard project
Advised Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency on the centralised use of the integrated smartcard fares system for nation-wide purposes and related agreements with various transport industry participants and suppliers.
Ultra-fast broadband initiative
Advised Crown Fibre Holdings (now Crown Infrastructure Partners), a Government-owned investment vehicle, on the New Zealand Government's ultra-fast broadband initiative. Bell Gully's role included advising on the conduct of the competitive procurement process, leading all of the contract negotiations with eight bidding parties, contracting, company structuring and other issues. This included negotiations for the Network Infrastructure Project Agreements with each of Chorus, Northpower, WEL Networks and Enable Networks.
