A leading international legal directory has named Bell Gully partner David Coull as one of the top energy
specialists in the world.
Who’s Who Legal has named David as one of just 24 energy lawyers who are the
most highly regarded individuals internationally, alongside lawyers from Allen
& Overy, Dentons and Baker Botts.
The list was published with the release of the Who’s Who Legal: Energy
2015 guide in July, which highlights 729 leading lawyers from 306 firms
across 91 jurisdictions in total. David is one of just seven lawyers listed as
the most highly regarded from outside North America and Europe.
It is the second time in as many months Bell Gully has drawn recognition from
an international publisher for its energy sector expertise. In June, Bell Gully
was named in the top tier of energy and infrastructure firms in New Zealand by
the IFLR1000 Energy & Infrastructure 2015, with partners Garry Downs, Chris Gordon and David Coull acknowledged.
The IFLR1000 cited Bell Gully’s strength in oil and gas in awarding the ranking,
along with its dominance in public private partnerships (PPPs).
The latest accolade adds to widespread acknowledgement of the team’s leading
position by leading directories. Bell Gully is named in the top band for energy
and natural resources by Chambers Global 2015. Chambers assigns top
rankings to David and Chris for energy and natural resources and names team
member Andrew Beatson as the only Band
1 specialist for environment and resource management in New Zealand. Asia Pacific Legal 500 2015 awards the team a Tier 1 ranking for projects
and resource management, singling out Chris, Andrew and PPP expert Hugh Kettle as leading individuals.
