New Zealand Law Awards announce finalists across all categories

22 September 2020

The finalists for the New Zealand Law Awards have been announced with Bell Gully and its clients well-represented across deal, team and individual categories. Bell Gully received the most team and individual finalist nominations among law firms in New Zealand.

In the six deal categories, our teams advised on nine deals - including five out of the six finalists in the M&A Deal of the Year category. Our deals are also finalists in Debt Market Deal of the Year, Equity Market Deal of the Year, Mid Market Deal of the Year and Project Finance Deal of the Year categories as well.

The firm is also a finalist in numerous team categories. Both our Corporate and Projects and Real Estate teams are finalists for the Deal Team of the Year, while Bell Gully is a finalist in both the Employer of Choice and Large Law Firm of the Year categories.

We are also delighted that several of our people have been named finalists in respective individual categories. Chair Anna Buchly is a finalist for Managing Partner of the Year, while corporate partner Angela Harford and Projects and Real Estate partner Natasha Garvan are both finalists in the Young Private Practice Lawyer of the Year (35 or under) category.

Chair Anna Buchly said it is important to celebrate the vast industry achievements over the past year, given the circumstances that everyone continues to face.

“Delivering timely and commercially practical advice to our clients has never been more vital than now. Working in a changing environment is challenging, but there have been a number of impressive achievements across the legal industry which are important to recognise," she said.

“Bell Gully congratulates all our clients as well as the other teams and individuals named as finalists across all categories."

The New Zealand Law Awards also celebrates in-house individuals and teams. We are delighted that several of our key clients have been recognised as finalists in this year's awards. BNZ, Genesis Energy, SkyCity Entertainment Group and Vodafone New Zealand are all finalists in the In-House Team of the Year category. ANZ and BNZ are finalists in the Financial Services In-House Team of the Year. Congratulations to all teams recognised.

Across in-house finalists, SkyCity's General Counsel Jo Wong and BNZ's Chief General Counsel Hayley Cassidy are finalists for In-House Lawyer of the Year, while BNZ's Rachel O'Brien and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare's Leah Taylor are finalists in the Young In-House Lawyer of the Year (35 or under) category. Special congratulations to all individuals highlighted in the finalist categories.

Winners will be announced on November 12.
