Bell Gully competition team awarded 'Elite' ranking for a 16th consecutive year

16 December 2020

The Global Competition Review has awarded Bell Gully's competition team an 'Elite' ranking in the GCR 100 global survey of the world's leading competition law practices for a 16th consecutive year.

The survey highlighted the team's role in a number of complex global deals which have recently gone before the New Zealand Commerce Commission (NZCC). This included advising:

  • Elanco Animal Health in its US$7.6 billion acquisition of Bayer's animal health business, which was a complex global merger,
  • Elanco on the US$135 million sale of Osurnia to Dechra Pharmaceuticals, and
  • Mylan on its merger with Pfizer's off-patent branded and generic established medicines business Upjohn.

The competition team was also credited for advising BP on the NZCC's retail fuel market study – the first ever conducted by the NZCC.

Bell Gully's competition practice was also confirmed this week as having retained its 'Band 1' practice ranking in Chambers Asia Pacific 2021. The legal directory ranked four Bell Gully lawyers for their competition work, including a top tier ranking for practice leader Torrin Crowther, as well as rankings for partners Glenn Shewan, Jenny Stevens and Simon Ladd.
