Bell Gully is delighted to have been named a Gold Employer of Choice in the latest survey of Australasian law firms by legal publisher ALB.
The ALB annual Employer of Choice survey aims to assess how firms are performing as employers by asking the industry – those working in firms and others in the legal fraternity such as in-house counsel. Survey respondents are asked to rate firms against six criteria: compensation and benefits; quality of work and clients; professional development and training; knowledge management and IT; work-life balance; and overall reputation. The results are weighted to take into account firm size and also to reflect the difference between votes cast for firms from within them and from outside respondents.
Bell Gully has been named as one of just four firms in Australasia – and of just two in New Zealand – to have achieved Gold Employer of Choice status after having performed the best overall against the survey criteria.
Bell Gully chairman Roger Partridge says the firm's commitment to being a good employer and finding ways to make improvements remains very much in focus.
"Receiving independent feedback through channels such as the ALB Employer of Choice survey is one way we can see how we are doing and how we compare with other firms. We are very pleased to have received gold status and see this as a reflection of our continued focus on our people," says Mr Partridge.
He says despite challenging economic conditions, the firm has prioritised continuing to invest in staff through recruitment and programmes to support engagement such as client-focused training, secondments and providing pro bono opportunities.
"The quality of the work we do for our clients and the success we achieve in the market place depends on the quality and engagement of our people. I believe we have an outstanding team, and I am proud that their voting has seen us achieve this award."
