Auckland local governance: structure now in law
Legislation has now passed through Parliament establishing the shape of local governance under the new Auckland Council.
The Local Government (Auckland Council) Act sets out the structure of the new Council and outlines the functions of each of two tiers of decision making within it – that of the governing body itself and a series of local boards.
