Big brain gain for Bell Gully senior associate ranks

Talented New Zealand lawyers practising in Europe and Australia have returned to Bell Gully's senior associate ranks, bringing home a collective 40 years' international experience.

Chairman Roger Partridge says the number of senior lawyers returning from overseas and back to Bell Gully is unprecedented within recent firm history.

"When you count these people alongside the lawyers we have promoted to senior associate within the firm this year, and those who have joined us from other New Zealand firms, we certainly have the most talented group of new senior associates in recent times."

Mr Partridge says while this may be going against the grain of recruitment in many organisations of late, the firm remains committed to retaining and attracting the best people.

"The slowdown in work in markets such as London has played a part in prompting the return of some of New Zealand's most talented lawyers and we are delighted we have been able to attract so many back.

"They come home with many years of experience across a wide range of areas, including infrastructure, technology, employment and restructuring - all excellent examples of areas where New Zealand has a particular need for top-notch advisers."
