Bell Gully's environment/resource management practice has been signalled among New Zealand's best in a newly released review of environment lawyers in Australasia.
The ALB Guide: Environment Law 2009 looks at what is happening in the practice area in Australia and New Zealand and the leading firms and lawyers operating within them. Produced by legal publisher Australasian Legal Business (ALB), it is based on speaking with law firm clients, and other lawyers and barristers working in the field.
The guide names Bell Gully's practice as one of three leading firms advising clients and in particular notes the work of Senior Partner David McGregor, partners Tom Bennett and Simon Watt and senior associate Kate Radka.
In summarising client and peer feedback, the guide says: "Bell Gully went to great lengths to provide as much service and assistance as possible.
"David McGregor was professional and down-to-earth in his dealings, and provided sound advice on a number of planning and legislative environment matters. He responded to specific requests for legal assistance and was sufficiently familiar with his clients' businesses and way of working to point out matters arising that they should note."
The guide also noted that Tom Bennett was a "pleasure to work with and professional, but did not compromise his personal touch", while both Simon Watt and Kate Radka did "fabulous work, and were experienced and innovative".
