Bell Gully partner Murray Tingey has examined the impact of property development insolvencies at the 2009 Corporate Insolvency Conference.
The conference was held in Auckland from 11-13 March and participants heard from Reserve Bank Governor Allan Bollard, who discussed the state of the New Zealand economy, the impact of the credit crisis and how to manage the fallout. Leading international insolvency lawyers James Sprayregen and David Kidd also explored insolvency issues, both firmly fixed on the impacts of the global credit crisis.
Murray's presentation focused on understanding the impact of property development insolvencies. He points out the unique issues faced by receivers in the property development setting, how to deal with contractors and sub-contractors, and what the options might for saving a property development.
