Bell Gully partner David Craig has outlined legal issues involved in carbon trading at the Australia-New Zealand Climate Change and Business Conference, held in Auckland in August.
The conference brought together prominent business leaders and policy makers from the region and globally to focus on new business opportunities arising from the challenge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Prime Minister Helen Clark and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd addressed the conference, speaking about the challenges their countries face in their efforts to reduce emissions and their roles as world leaders tackling global warming.
David, a banking and finance partner in Bell Gully's Wellington office, provided practical guidelines and advice for business to prepare for the start of emissions trading. His presentation addressed the different markets, products and regulatory frameworks, and the pros and cons of various types of documentation.
