Crunch looks forward with science and technology

Bell Gully's Crunch Time series returned last week to look at the role science, technology and innovation can play in lifting New Zealand's competitiveness and standard of living.

In Auckland, the discussion featured Professor Paul Callaghan of Victoria University along with independent company director Bryan Mogridge. In Wellington, Professor Callaghan was joined by engineer and businessman Neville Jordan.

Panellists discussed the issues from a wide range of perspectives under the Chatham House Rule. The rule creates an "off the record" forum to encourage open and free debate.

The first Crunch discussion of the year, held in April, featured Reserve Bank Governor Dr Alan Bollard and, in Wellington, Xero CEO Rod Drury and Rob Cameron, partner at Cameron Partners. In Auckland, Dr Bollard was joined by Fletcher Building CEO Jonathan Ling, and New Zealand Business Roundtable Chairman and Ernst & Young managing partner Rob McLeod.

More Crunch Time seminars are planned in the lead up to this year's general election. For more information contact Adrienne Collins.
