Southern students' hair-raising efforts for charity

In a brave move with the southern winter setting in, students and staff at the University of Otago have shed their locks to raise money for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.

Bell Gully is a strong supporter of the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation and helped sponsor the Student Shave Off. The wholly student-organised event prompted 370 shaves, believed to be a record number of participants in any one Shave for a Cure event.

The money raised will be used to support patients living with blood cancers like leukaemia and their families, as well as increase public awareness and fund research for a cure.

For the past three years, partners and staff at Bell Gully have also shaved their heads for the cause, last year raising over $25,000.
