Bumper crowds expected in Christchurch for corporate lawyers conference

A record attendance is expected at the Corporate Lawyers Association of New Zealand's (CLANZ) annual conference in Christchurch this week, with over 300 in-house lawyers registered for the association's first South Island gathering in its 19-year history.

Sponsored by leading law firm Bell Gully, the conference will be held from 11-12 May at the Christchurch Convention Centre. It allows lawyers advising the country's most well known corporates and government departments to compare best practice, identify industry trends and plan for the future.

Keynote speakers at this year's conference include rugby legend Nick Farr-Jones, All Blacks and Black Caps mental skills coach Gilbert Enoka, former ACT president Catherine Judd and NZQA CEO Dr Karen Poutasi.

"The theme of this year's conference is 'faster, higher, stronger', said CLANZ Conference Convener Helen Mackay. "Our speakers, workshops and debates are designed to help our members deliver their best-ever performance while managing a fast-changing and diverse workload."

The conference will conclude with the presentation of the association's annual awards: the CLANZ/Wigley & Co Community Award, the CLANZ/Bell Gully Young Corporate Lawyer of the Year and the CLANZ Corporate Lawyer of the Year.
