Bell Gully has been named the Who's Who Legal Law Firm of the Year for New Zealand in the 2006 Who's Who Legal Awards.
Based on nominations received from clients and other practitioners, Who's Who Legal has identified pre-eminent firms in 47 countries to receive their country's award. The results have just been published in The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers 2006.
Who's Who managing editor Callum Campbell says: "Bell Gully has 12 listings in 10 different practice areas and as such is a worthy winner of the Who's Who Legal Law Firm of the Year for New Zealand with outstanding individual talent and breadth of expertise.
"This is the first time we have singled out an individual firm nationally for such an honour, and Bell Gully can truly be said to be New Zealand's leading firm."
Callum Campbell says in determining the leading law firm in a jurisdiction, numerous factors are taken into account including the number of partners from the firm included in Who's Who publications, the number of practice areas in which the firm is featured, past performance and the aggregate total of weighted votes cast in favour of lawyers at the firm relative to those of other local firms.
"It is impossible to buy entry into this publication; financial considerations play no part in the selection process and only lawyers who have met independent international research criteria are listed. This book represents an accurate and impartial picture of the global private practice marketplace," he says.
