Bell Gully lawyer Damian Stone will explain the practicalities of applying the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi to in-house lawyers during the next Bell Gully-CLANZ workshop, to be held on 14 October (Wellington) and 15 October (Auckland).
Recent legislation, court decisions and Treaty claims mean that sound understanding of the Treaty is important, particularly for those who need to comply with its principles.
Damian will provide an overview of Treaty issues, some topical case studies and offer a range of practical strategies for working with Maori, iwi, hapu and the associated communities.
Damian Stone (Ngati Kahungunu) is a leading practitioner in legal matters relating to the Treaty. Before joining Bell Gully he was General Counsel at the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission.
