Dr Robert Watson, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and chief scientist at the World Bank will speak at a climate change seminar hosted by Bell Gully on Thursday 21 February in Wellington. Dr Watson formerly worked for NASA and in the Clinton administration.
Bell Gully has been asked by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) to host the seminar given the firm's important work on the development of a legal framework for trading in greenhouse gas emissions.
According to resource management partner Simon Watt,
"The Government's plans to ratify the Kyoto Protocol this year will have a significant impact on the economy and most sectors will be affected including energy, manufacturing, agriculture, forestry and transport.
This seminar will provide a key opportunity for Wellington business audiences to hear probably the most influential spokesperson on the subject".
Bell Gully is New Zealand's leading corporate law firm with over 250 legal staff.
For further information please contact Simon Watt.
Bell Gully's Resource Management team has exclusively advised the Ministry of Economic Development on the development of a legal framework for trading in greenhouse gas emissions. In terms of its impact on business, emissions trading will be a key government policy initiative to meet New Zealand's international climate change obligations..
