Willy Sussman
Willy leads the firm's tax practice and is New Zealand's only specialist indirect-tax legal partner.
He is recognised as an expert in all aspects of goods and services tax (GST) and customs and excise matters. His expertise has been enlisted by a broad range of clients from around the world and his experience advising on trans-Tasman issues is significant.
Willy also advises private clients and clients in the not for profit sector on how to best structure their affairs, as the partner responsible for the Trusts and Personal Asset Planning Team.
Chambers Asia Pacific 2013 names Willy as a top tier tax lawyer who is "clearly an expert in his field, and is particularly good at explaining complex legal issues to the lay person." The previous edition describes him as "New Zealand's foremost authority on goods and services taxation", noting that clients recommend him as "a great thinker who is able to understand the complex ins and outs of the tax system and guide us through it." World Tax 2012 also names Willy as a leading tax practitioner.
