Toby is a corporate lawyer with experience across a wide range of commercial transactions including mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, corporate restructurings, joint ventures and various other commercial contracts.

Toby returned to Bell Gully in 2009 after spending four years working in the corporate team of leading London law firm Herbert Smith.  Both in New Zealand and London, Toby has advised on a number of significant takeovers, acquisitions, divestments, corporate restructurings and securities offerings. 

As well as listed and unlisted corporate clients, Toby has experience advising investment banks, private equity clients, banks and a range of other financial sector participants. 

Toby was recently seconded to the Yellow Pages Group as Legal Counsel for twelve months and was heavily involved in the Yellow Pages Group’s equity and debt restructuring.  Previously, Toby has been seconded to Carter Holt Harvey and Fisher & Paykel Appliances, and in 2007 was seconded by Herbert Smith to the Merrill Lynch equity capital markets legal team.
