Tim is an experienced litigator specialising in employment and commercial disputes.

He specialises in employment law, advising employers on all aspects of employment law including disciplinary and personal grievance hearings, restraints of trade and the protection of goodwill and confidential information, restructuring and redundancy proposals, exit packages, employment law implications arising on the sale or transfer of all or part of a business, all aspects of relationships between employers and unions, and Privacy Act and Human Rights Act issues.

Tim regularly attends mediations. He frequently appears before the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court. He also appears as defence counsel in the District Court on health and safety prosecutions.

Tim has worked in Hong Kong with Baker & McKenzie and in the British Virgin Islands with Harneys. He has also worked at other leading law firms in New Zealand.

Chambers Asia Pacific 2014 names Tim as an up and coming lawyer in employment, stating he is widely viewed as a "rising star" and his clients are quick to praise his pragmatic, commercially focused advice. The previous edition states he "is characterised as an extremely capable and professional practitioner who inspires great confidence in his advice." Additionally, Asia Pacific Legal 500 2014 highly recommends Tim in employment.
