Jeanette is a trade mark specialist, advising on all aspects of trade mark and related intellectual property law including trade mark protection, oppositions, enforcement of trade mark and commercialisation of intellectual property, the Fair Trading Act and passing off, copyright, and general intellectual property issues, both locally and internationally.

Jeanette's clients come from a range of industry sectors, including the food and beverage, cosmetics and skin care and the household care industries. In particular, Jeanette acts for Unilever Plc, the Reckitt Benckiser group of companies and Frucor Beverages Group.

She conducts trade mark due diligence exercises and advises on commercial aspects relating to trade marks such as restructuring, licensing and assignments. Jeanette also advises on design protection and registration, all aspects of copyright law and domain name protection, and registration issues.

Jeanette's experience includes managing IP portfolios, drafting and interpreting IP agreements, such as licenses, running IP due diligence exercises and drafting IP related contracts. She also advises on Fair Trading Act issues and passing off. Jeanette also runs trade mark oppositions and rectification procedures.

Prior to joining Bell Gully, Jeanette worked for the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) for four years as a senior trade mark examiner where she examined and advised on trade mark and design applications. She also gained invaluable knowledge about the IPONZ practice and procedure which she has applied to her role as an IP lawyer at Bell Gully. Jeanette has also worked in the IPONZ Hearings Office and has expertise in the Hearings Office processes and practices.
