James is a corporate and commercial lawyer specialising in technology, outsourcing and commercial procurement.

He advises on major corporate transactions and has particular expertise in information technology and business process outsourcing projects, systems procurement and integration, software licensing arrangements, and general commercial agreements.

James returned to Bell Gully in 2008 after two years at Latham & Watkins in the UK, where his experience included acting for major clients Deutsche Bank, Lloyds TSB and Diageo. Prior, James spent two years working in the in-house legal department of British Sky Broadcasting Limited.

From 2000 to 2004 James worked in Bell Gully's Wellington office advising clients on a wide range of corporate matters. During this time, he was seconded to the New Zealand government drug buying agency, PHARMAC, for six months as in-house counsel.
