Gareth specialises in private equity, funds management, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, Shari'ah compliance and general corporate advisory.

Gareth has a wide range of both New Zealand and international experience in advising clients on private equity, mergers and acquisitions, takeovers, joint ventures, fund management and general corporate/commercial matters.

One of the few lawyers in New Zealand with experience in ensuring transactions are compliant with the principles of Islamic Shari'ah, Gareth joined Bell Gully in 2010 following four years in Dubai, first at Norton Rose LLP, then at Herbert Smith LLP. While in Dubai, he worked in the corporate team advising on cross-border acquisition structuring, the establishment of investment funds, mergers and acquisitions, takeovers, joint ventures, competitive bid processes, stakeholder issues, regulatory and operational compliance and a range of other corporate and commercial matters.
