Daniel is an experienced corporate and capital markets lawyer. He has specialist expertise in debt capital markets.
Daniel re-joined Bell Gully in 2011 after five years in London with leading international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. As a senior associate in the corporate department, Daniel advised both financial institutions and corporate clients including the Bank of England, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC and Xstrata.
Since re-joining Bell Gully, Daniel has advised on a number of New Zealand's most significant corporate and capital markets transactions, including:
Deutsche Bank, Craigs Investment Partners, Goldman Sachs and UBS as Joint Lead Managers to the offer of units in the NZ$500 million Fonterra Shareholders' Fund;
AMI Insurance on its structural separation and NZ$380 million sale to IAG; and
Contact Energy on the underwriting agreement for its $350 million renounceable rights issue.
Daniel regularly advises on mergers and acquisitions, corporate re-organisations, secondary market offerings (such as private placements and rights issues), joint ventures and other commercial contracts.
Daniel has extensive experience across the full range of debt capital markets issuances including advising both issuers and underwriters in connection with note programmes and issues, convertible bonds, exchange and tender offers, sovereign issues and private placements.
