David is a senior member of the corporate department with specific expertise in planning and implementing competitive trade sales, major contracts including outsourcing, mill upgrades and joint ventures, and dealing with trans-Tasman transactions.

He provides strategic advice and has negotiated a wide range of agreements for international and domestic clients in a number of sectors, including forestry, heavy industry, telecommunications and electricity.

Acting for Asahi in relation to its NZ$129 million takeover of Charlie's Group.

Sale of Carter Holt Harvey Limited's New Zealand MDF business
Advised Carter Holt Harvey Limited on the competitive sale process of its New Zealand medium density fibreboard (MDF) business, which included its manufacturing plant at Rangiora, Canterbury. In November 2008, ITOCHU Corporation and Daiken Corporation announced their joint purchase of the manufacturing plant, having previously established a holding company, Daiken New Zealand Limited, for this purpose.

Carter Holt Harvey
In 2007 David advised Rank Group's New Zealand-based forest products subsidiary Carter Holt Harvey on the sale of its Australian building supplies business and the sale to, and lease back from, Valad Property Group of a number of Australasian commercial/industrial properties. Over recent years, David has acted as lead partner on all of Carter Holt Harvey's major divestments, including the sale of its Australasian Tissue business, approximately one third of its forest estate in 2003/04 and the sale of the balance in 2006.

Acted for Siemens in 2007 on a joint venture with Vector Limited establishing an "electronic smart metering" business.
