Chris specialises in corporate and commercial work and has considerable experience across wide-ranging corporate and commercial transactions and projects with particular experience on the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors.
His experience includes corporate governance and compliance, overseas investment, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial contracting, including various forms of construction contracts and competitive tenders.
Chris is Deputy Chairman of Bell Gully and co-heads the firm's Energy and Infrastructure and Projects teams.
Chris is admitted to the State Bar of California and the Federal District Court of the United States (9th Circuit). He is also a member of the Business and International Law sections of the State Bar of California.
Chambers Asia Pacific 2013 ranks Chris in the top tier of corporate lawyers in the energy and natural resources field in New Zealand, noting he is "prominent and well liked in his field, and respected as much for being 'tried and true on the commercial side' as for his technical legal excellence." The 2012 edition states Chris is "highly responsive and attentive to clients' needs and timelines", with one source adding that "Chris has developed a deep understanding of our core energy business and we rate his views, experience and expertise very highly." He is also named as a leading individual in projects and resource management by the Asia Pacific Legal 500 2012 / 2013. The previous edition recommends him for his "good service ethic" and "strong affinity for client relations."
