Chris advises on commercial law matters. He has established particularly strong expertise in advising on energy sector matters, including major infrastructure projects.

Chris' energy sector expertise goes back to 1989 when he first began acting for participants in the electricity industry. He has been involved from both a project management and legal perspective in due diligence for the disposal and acquisition of assets and businesses in the electricity sector.

Chris has also advised energy sector clients on land and asset investigation processes for major infrastructure projects.

Recent Work

Wind farms
Acting for a landowner on the development of a substantial wind farm on their land.  This included preparing the tender documentation, assisting in the assessment of the tenders and drafting and negotiating the development contract and associated documentation.

Lines company
Acting for a major line company in its arrangements relating to electricity generating stations embedded in its local distribution network. This work included assisting in the development of a connection policy and drafting a standard form connection contract and advising on recent Government proposals concerning distributed generation.

Energy company
Acting for a major energy company on its acquisition of  rights and interests in land for the purposes of establishing certain gas infrastructure assets.  This work included drafting and negotiating a variety of easement documents, leases and option and sale agreements relating to the relevant interests and rights to be acquired.
