A business support career at Bell Gully

Adrian Thompson

Position: Developer
Department: Information Technology

I joined Bell Gully in 2006. I saw it as an opportunity to build on previous experience working in the legal IT field, having worked as a developer at two other firms before Bell Gully.

Working in this industry, you build up a degree of specialisation in the IT requirements of lawyers and a feeling for how they might use the systems you build. For law firms, document management systems are fundamentally important. They lie at the heart of every law firm's IT requirements, which is why it's so exciting to be involved in a large-scale project to introduce improvements to Bell Gully's system. We are looking to introduce new ways of creating, filing and retrieving content – ultimately exploring ways to help the firm be more efficient.

I feel like Bell Gully really supports and values the work I do. They understand the need for flexible working patterns and encourage us to get out and enjoy life outside of work – in 2008 we took out the Corporate Category in the Wellington Gutbuster, a challenging running race around the hills of Wellington!
