Glenora Estate
Acting for Hong Kong investors in the acquisition of iconic Waiheke Island Glenora Estate boutique hotel, vineyard and adjoining properties.

Puka Park Resort
Acting for Tainui Group Holdings in its sale of Pauanui's Puka Park Resort to A.P.V.C. Limited of Australia.

Travelodge Palmerston North
Advised Mirvac on the purchase of the Novotel Hotel land and business in Palmerston North, which was subsequently rebranded as a Travelodge.

ING Real Estate Entertainment Fund
Advised ING Real Estate Entertainment Fund on its purchase and lease back of a portfolio of pubs in New Zealand.

InterCity Group
Acting successfully for passenger transport and tourism company InterCity Group over the domain name www.intercity.co.nz which had been unfairly registered by another party. The domain was ordered to be returned.

Hertz
Advised as New Zealand counsel on the global acquisition of US Hertz rental car group by consortium of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, the Carlyle Group and Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity.

SKYCITY
Advising SKYCITY Entertainment Group on numerous transactions including its acquisition of an (indirect) 40.5% interest in Christchurch Casino Limited; acquisition of a 50.1% stake in SKYCITY Leisure and its subsequent underwriting of a public offer of mandatory convertible notes; its takeover offer for all of the outstanding securities of SKYCITY Leisure; and on its public offer of capital notes.

Reading Cinemas
Acting for Reading Cinemas in its acquisition of Palms Cinemas and in its circuit acquisition of cinemas throughout New Zealand including Invercargill Multiplex, Kapiti Coast Multiplex, Porirua Multiplex, Rotorua Multiplex, and Napier Cinemas.

Department of Internal Affairs
Advised the Department on a NZ$35 million contract for the design, build, testing, operation and management of a system to enable daily electronic monitoring of all non-casino gaming machines located in about 1,800 venues across New Zealand.

New Zealand Rugby Players Association
We act for the association to which all professional rugby players in New Zealand belong. The association represents the interests of rugby players including, for example, the establishment of player welfare programmes.

Rugby Players Collective
We act for the Collective, which is registered as a trade union under the Employment Relations Act. All professional rugby players who play in the first division of the National Provincial Championship (including all Super 14 players and All Blacks) are members of the Collective. The Collective represents players in relation to employment matters and was responsible for the negotiation of the collective employment agreement which prescribes the terms of employment for all professional rugby players in New Zealand.

International Rugby Players Association Awards
Bell Gully assisted the international association with its 2006 annual awards in which the national squads from the eight major rugby playing countries cast votes to select the International Player of the Year, the Team of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year. We acted in an independent capacity in the vote counting process.

Cricket Players Association
We advised the association, a registered trade union representing the interests of all first class cricketers in New Zealand, on its incorporation and associated issues. Our work has included advice on legal issues arising out of the establishment of a master agreement between the association and New Zealand Cricket (together with all of New Zealand's major associations) prescribing terms and conditions for all New Zealand cricketers.

New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Inc.
Bell Gully has a long-term relationship advising New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Inc on a range of issues. In the area of racing, we have also assisted the New Zealand Totalisator Agency Board on legal issues.
