Bell Gully takes the lead in advising on a wide range of environmental, resource management and local government issues.

We have expertise in a broad range of environmental areas, assisting clients with all matters arising from environmental, local government and other regulatory legislation.

We regularly advise on resource consent applications, together with consenting and compliance issues for a wide range of projects, development and subdivision proposals under both regional and district plans.  We also advise on environmental liability issues, particularly in relation to contaminated sites.

Our team has specific expertise in due diligence advice for company mergers, acquisitions and property transactions, particularly with respect to sensitive land applications under the Overseas Investment Act.

We frequently represent clients in the Environment Court and High Court, as well as provide high-level strategic policy advice and formulation at both local and central government levels.

We have particular experience in large scale infrastructure work, manufacturing, land transport, energy, contaminated sites, mining, coastal, agriculture (including viticulture), and climate change issues.

Bell Gully plays an active role in the Resource Management Law Association of New Zealand, in addition to participating in the activities of the National Environmental Law Association of Australia.
