Community
Bell Gully is committed to contributing in meaningful ways to projects that support the wellbeing of our communities and the positive growth and development of people within them.
We aim to establish partnerships with organisations making a difference in the lives of children, young people and their families, and those whose health and wellbeing may be adversely affected in some way.
Our assistance for community initiatives comes in the form of donations, fundraising efforts and by volunteering our time and skills to provide practical and appropriate help.
Among those with whom we work are:
Leukaemia & Blood Foundation
Bell Gully partners and staff have put their heads on the line as part of the Shave for a Cure campaign to support the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation's work with patients and families of those affected by leukaemia and related blood conditions. The annual event, in which heads are shaved and hair dyed in wacky colours, raises tens of thousands of dollars and awareness for the six New Zealand adults and children diagnosed with leukaemia and related conditions each day. Our summer clerks also spend time helping patients with a range of tasks from gardening to painting, as part of their annual community leadership initiative and we have assisted the foundation with pro bono legal advice.
Taita College, Wellington
Bell Gully's mentoring/partnership programme with Taita College in Lower Hutt was established in 2000 and is now a key feature of the school and firm. Our lawyers volunteer time to provide mentoring and practical assistance to students, supporting them in learning, development and career choices.
Plunket and Salvation Army
As well as providing pro bono assistance, we make a significant donation each Christmas to assist the work of these long-standing organisations.
